ThWaC: We sold some books! (crazy ik)

This Week at Carminica, we sold some books! Due to unforeseen circumstances, the book launch event for This Road Leads Home to Me had to be canceled, but so many of you have bought a copy anyway! In other news:

  • A plethora of legal work has been done, including our truly enthralling privacy policy and cookie policy. TLDR; WE DO NOT SELL DATA, EVER, FOR ANY REASON! and the TLDR for the cookies is that you get none of them because I ate them all.

  • We’ve gone back to our roots! Calvin has decided to start writing for the SCP Foundation again!

  • Our latest author is making literally 12x the average income per book sold than if they went with our competitors.

Hello again, dear readers! My name is Calvin and I am the Executive Director of Carminica Obsidion Collective. This week at Carminica we sold some books and did more backend work to make our company better.

As mentioned in the start of this article, our most recent event had to be canceled due to unforeseen circumstances. Out of consideration for the author, we will not disclose the exact details as they were of a family nature, but it does appear things are resolved now.

On a higher note however, said author is making $24.50 per book sold! This is with our standard rate of 70% going to the author, and as this author prepaid expenses, it means all revenue for books sold in-person is technically profit! I will explain more on the ins-and-outs of our pricing in the future, but you can read the overview in one of our about pages. In the future you’ll be able to read the exact details in the policy hub.

To round us out, I have decided to get back into writing for the SCP Foundation. It has been years now, and I certainly am not as knowledgeable as I used to be on the subject but Ryan and Maggie convinced me.

As I say at the end of all of these, I hope that Carmine Colophons is a place where people can get an idea about who we are as company— something fun to communicate through to anyone reading, and hopefully you all enjoy it.

I’ve realized that because I named this thing a word that nobody knows, I’ll need to explain what colophon means in every article. Whoops. Colophon is defined as, “a publisher's emblem or imprint, especially one on the title page or spine of a book.” We are very proud of our emblem and what we stand for, so it’s only fitting.
