ThWaC: We Took Some Time to Ourselves
This Week at Carminica, we took some time to work on a bunch of infrastructure. That means better systems for you and for us! You also might have noticed we didn’t make an article last week, o-astute minded reader of mine. In other news:
We had a great Halloween party!
We’ve been hard at work on some new stories!
Calvin took a break from working on the website.

Hello again, dear readers! My name is Calvin and I am the Executive Director of Carminica Obsidion Collective. This week at Carminica we worked on making our internal systems a little better, but honestly I don’t want to talk about procedure and I doubt you want me to either. If I’m wrong, shoot me an email at calvin.magnan@carminica.com!
Alright, to address the elephant in the room, we didn’t have an article last week because A.) it was the week of Halloween, B.) my birthday is Nov. 1st, and C.) I forgot and then didn’t have time to make it during the following week. Also, writing these is moreso for me than you hypothetical readers at this point because I don’t think anyone reads these lol.
Anyway, this coming week (since it is monday) we will hopefully have something more interesting to share but I make no promises.
To round us out, I hope you all are doing well, and I hope that Carmine Colophons is becoming a place where people can get an idea about who we are as company— something fun to communicate through to anyone reading, and hopefully you all enjoy it.
I’ve realized that because I named this thing a word that nobody knows, I’ll need to explain what colophon means in every article. Whoops. Colophon is defined as, “a publisher's emblem or imprint, especially one on the title page or spine of a book.” We are very proud of our emblem and what we stand for, so it’s only fitting.
ThWaC: Our latest book gets some attention!
This Week at Carminica, we took a gander down this road! We ended up becoming a yogi. No, just kidding, but we did start promoting our latest publication, This Road Leads Home to Me. In other news:
The release of This Road Leads Home to Me has been made our featured event! RSVP here!
Company email is working!
Many pages have been added and many more have been edited!

Hello again, dear readers! My name is Calvin and I am the Executive Director of Carminica Obsidion Collective. This week at Carminica we worked on engoodening our online presence, including some extensive backend development to make our systems have additional functionality.
Our storefront is unfortunately still non-functional, but if you’d like to purchase a book you are in luck! The RSVP form allows you to preorder the book and pay at the door.
Coming up soon, we will have a new page added where you all can enjoy the character that is our company’s beloved Creative Director’s ranting AND raving about the state of creative storytelling in media. These (hopefully but probably not) short asides will be featured on a dedicated page called The Artist’s Angle where any of our staff can shout-out to their favorite projects and call-out their least favorites (to put it nicely).
Like I said in last week’s ThWaC, I hope to be writing one of these every week sharing what’s happening here at our collective with the flair and vibe we cultivate, all in the style of the long-lost “This Week at Bungie”. My hope is that Carmine Colophons will be a place where people can get an idea about who we are as company— something fun to communicate through to anyone reading, and hopefully you will all enjoy it.

Hello! My name is Calvin and I am the Executive Director of Carminica Obsidion Collective. This website has been a long time coming (I bought the domain over a year ago) and I am happy to have it launched now! New content and features will be added to the site as time goes on (feel free to make suggestions!), with store functionality planned to be added in next weeks update.
Our company has been around officially since 2021 but our group started as one dedicated to creative writing about a year earlier. We were looking to publish our own stories when we uncovered the extent of the corruption in this industry and decided to make our own “ideal” and actually ethical publishing company. Carminica was born from this, and over the past few years we’ve seen terrific work and amazing artists. It’s time to expand now, and get out on the web now that I feel we are ready.
Carminica is all about being a company of writers & artists and I cannot wait to share our services with the world. Our company was founded with the promise to put labor and quality first, and I hope it shows! We pride ourselves here on the principles of open communication and transparency (something that other publishers lack entirely) as well as never using “corporate” speak, not only because its awful but also because me and Ryan (our Creative Director) are autistic and can’t understand it.
I hope to be writing one of these every week sharing what’s happening here at our collective with the flair and vibe we cultivate, all in the sort of style of the long-lost “This Week at Bungie” posts (TWAB) before Sony got involved. Carmine Colophons are going to be a lot less formal and have direct communication to anyone reading, and hopefully you will all enjoy it.
By the way, Colophon is defined as, “a publisher's emblem or imprint, especially one on the title page or spine of a book.” We are very proud of our emblem and what we stand for, so it’s only fitting.

P.S., I just stumbled across the word if you’re wondering.
